What is a Mouse Jiggler or Mouse Mover?

A mouse jiggler or mover is a motion simulator device for a computer mouse. It works by nudging the computer mouse cursor into action to prevent the computer screensaver from activating.

Which is it? Mouse Jiggler or Mouse Mover? Is there a difference?

Mouse jigglers are interchangeably known as mouse movers. They are one and the same thing. You say tomato, we say tomahto.

Why would someone need a Mouse Jiggler / Mover?

The Wee Shoogle is aimed at helping the following types of user:

1. People working from home who have had their computer privacy settings locked by an administrator so that the screensaver kicks in after a short period of inactivity.

  •  For example, you could be reading a printed document, or even watching a video or webinar.  Without constant interaction,  the computer goes straight into sleep mode, disrupting whatever you were doing.

2. People who need to keep their computer awake and stop it from falling asleep.

  • For example, if you’re uploading, transferring, or rending a large file.

3. PC Gamers who need to keep their computer awake during long gaming sessions so they don’t lose game data and progress.

Are there different types of Mouse Jiggler / Mouse Mover Devices?

According to Wikipedia there are broadly two types of device:

  1. Mechanical mouse jigglers
  2. Software driven mouse jigglers

1. Mechanical Mouse Movers

Mechanical mouse jigglers are small devices onto which a user places their computer mouse. They work by using a full rotating platform or rotating disc underneath the mouse. The movement is subtle but enough to move the user’s cursor on their screen. This fools the computer into thinking it’s being used and prevents the sleep mode or screensaver from activating. An example of a mechanical mouse mover is the Wee Shoogle. Mechanical mouse movers do not need any software – they are physical.

2. Software Mouse Movers

Software driven mouse movers install a programme on the user’s machine that also moves the mouse cursor across the screen.

Which is the best one for me? How do I choose?

It depends on what type of user you are (see above). It also depends on your mouse type. And beware cheaper imitations. Often they simply don’t work for different types of people. For example, mechanical mouse movers with small rotating discs are prone to the mouse falling off. Finally, if you’re using a work computer at home, with a software mouse mover you may need approval from your company IT to download anything. This is often a no-go for many users.

Do your research. In fact, that’s where we started as we found the competitive models simply didn’t cut it. As such, Wee Shoogle has been designed with their flaws in mind and we’ve addressed these. Wee Shoogle is the most universal option that works for everyone and each mouse device. If you want a safe bet and peace of mind when choosing, then we think we’ve got you covered.

Does Wee Shoogle have any software to download or instal?

Absolutely not. Nada. Zip. Nein. Non. The opposite of when Harry met Sally.

Why does downloading software matter?

  1. For a start you may not be able to. The reason many people need a mouse mover is because they are locked out from being an admin on their own computer by their company. So it’s possible you cannot download software (or may need to request permission from your IT department to do so).
  2. The other thing is, by downloading software, you are potentially notifying your company IT through their digital records.  If you want or need to remain totally undetectable for complete peace of mind, then you do not want any software.
  3. Some mouse jigglers claim that there is no software or instals needed. This often turns out to be completely false. Many a customer review can be found online complaining they had to send theirs back. Not all competitor manufacturers are trustworthy. They may require you to instal software or a driver for their jiggler to work. Going back to point no. 1 and 2 above, you can see why that is a problem.

How is Wee Shoogle powered?

Wee Shoogle is a USB powered mouse mover / jiggler. All you do is connect the Wee Shoogle to your computer using the USB cable provided (or through a USB wall plug that you may use to charge your phone). Once done, switch on via USB cable (you’ll see a small switch on the USB cable). Then simply place your mouse device on the Wee Shoogle. You can see our instruction video here or over on YouTube.

What if my computer does not have a USB port? Can I still use the Wee Shoogle?

Yes you can. Many computers come with varying types of ports and these are always changing – especially in the newer editions of Mac computers. You will need to buy a small adaptor that connects your computer to USB cables. They are widely available and can be easily bought across a wide range of retailers from supermarkets to computer shops or simply online such as Amazon. (Alternatively you can power the Wee Shoogle with a USB wall plug that you may use to charge your phone)

That’s it. You’ll be up and running in less than 60 seconds.

Is Wee Shoogle an automatic Mouse Mover?

All you have to do is connect the USB cable provided to the Wee Shoogle and a power source and click the on/off switch on the cable. That’s it. There are no other power cables needed. No other set up required.

Will it work with my Mac?

The Wee Shoogle is both PC & Mac compatible. Not all mouse movers /  jigglers work – especially if you use the Mac magic mouse. Because Wee Shoogle is mechanical with a rotating platform that moves beneath the mouse, we believe it to be the best solution if you are a Mac user or a PC user.

Can a Mouse Mover / Jiggler be detected?

Some can. Mouse movers / jigglers that require software or any installation can be detected. For many users this is not an option. The good news is Wee Shoogle is undetectable because it doesn’t require any software or drivers to be installed. It can be used on a personal or corporate computer stress-free when working from home

Is it a portable Mouse Mover?

You bet. Wee Shoogle is small but perfectly formed. It may be a physical unit but it’s lightweight and can be moved from one room to another no problem. Size wise, It’s 15cm in diameter and just under 4.5cm high. And weighs in at a miniscule 0.2kg.

How else is Wee Shoogle different from other Mouse Migglers or Mouse Movers?

There is virtually no noise. It’s almost silent. So much so we have had people wanting to return theirs because they thought it wasn’t working. The last thing you want when working is for an irritating buzzing noise going on in the background.
